I have stayed in many hotels throughout New York and by far this is my favorite place to stay when visiting the city. I recently brought my nephew for his first visit to New York. The staff made him feel very special about his first trip.
The Central Park view room I reserved was spacious and larger than the standard rooms. The location of the hotel is fantastic and very easy to get to many key areas of the city.
The hotel emailed me prior to my arrival to notify me of the Women’s March taking place and the alternative routes to the hotel. That came in handy when planning our arrival.
The room service staff was very helpful and attentive to my nephew’s food allergy (peanut and egg) The woman taking our order ran everything by the chef who let me know his food would be made in separate cookware. I appreciated the attention to detail and additional steps taken to make sure his food was prepared with very low risk of cross contamination.
The service, attention to detail and comfort of the rooms is why I continue to stay at this location.
Thanks again for another wonderful stay!
Really loved the interior design of the place and would highly recommend their steaks menu. Went there for a social event with family and found the hospitality to be amazing. Although a bit improvement can be done on the bar side, but overall I had got my value for money. Would definitely recommend it for event/overnight stay!!
I wasn't blown away by any means, but for NY I guess the room was spacious and clean enough. I just feel like the JW Marriott is trying to be the Ritz, but you simply get so much more at the Ritz (the extra attention to detail). For instance, the robe was just pitiful. It was extremely thin and felt terrible on the skin. But you could tell it had been put there as though it was some sort of novelty - like it checked off a box for them (yep, fancy-looking robe like the upscale hotels have. check).
As far as I could tell, for when we stayed in the city, the prices were comparable to the Ritz (which is why I'm making this comparison), but the Ritz was all booked up. I was also very put off by the receptionist/operator when I called to check in on the items I'd ordered to the room (extra towels, because there weren't enough for two people). After 30-45 minutes I called to simply check on them as I wanted to shower and go to bed, and the woman proceeded to argue with me about how long I'd actually been waiting (yeah, because that's a good approach).
The concierge was very knowledgeable and friendly and recommended a restaurant that we'll actually be trying when we're back in town this weekend. No complaints about that experience. He was great.
And finally, the restaurant was such a disappointment for breakfast. Our waiter disappeared after we ordered (a la carte, not buffet), and the food was so overpriced and underwhelming. Again, going with the overall theme of trying to be the Ritz and really falling short.
Our first NYC experience and I wasn’t going to gamble on lodging. The staff from check-in to check-out was outstanding, but I have to give a special nod to the concierge crew, especially Cameron. They made us feel confident, informed and ready for Manhattan before we arrived via e-mail and while we were there visiting with them each day. Indeed this hotel was pricey, but that’s to be expected given the time of year, perfect location across from Central Park, adjacent to Columbus Circle and within walking distance to so many places not to mention it is literally on the Macy’s parade route. We’d stay here again without a doubt.
